The Dental Recovery Plan, aimed at improving access to NHS dentists, has been deemed a “comprehensive failure” in a new report by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Despite promises to fund over 1.5 million additional treatments, MPs found that the dental contract remains inadequate, with only half of England’s population able to see an NHS dentist within two years. Initiatives such as the new patient premium and recruitment scheme have not yielded the expected results, leading to a worsening situation for vulnerable patients.
