A tsunami advisory for British Columbia’s coast was cancelled early Wednesday following an 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula, which prompted earlier warnings for several coastal regions. Observations indicated minor tsunami waves, with maximum heights of 27 cm noted at Winter Harbour and 21 cm at Tofino, while residents were advised to stay away from coastal areas due to strong currents.
