The New Orleans Saints plan to sign undrafted rookie quarterback Hunter Dekkers after a strong minicamp tryout, adding him to a competitive quarterback room that includes second-round pick Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, and Jake Haener. Dekkers, a former standout at Iowa State, showcased his talent by passing for over 3,800 yards and 32 touchdowns in 13 games at Iowa Western Community College, despite being dismissed from Iowa State for violating NCAA gambling policies. With three young quarterbacks vying for backup roles, Dekkers has a legitimate chance to secure a spot on the team’s 53-man roster.
