Parts of Northland are experiencing severe flooding following a night of torrential rain, with residents reporting the worst conditions in 60 years. Although a severe thunderstorm warning was lifted earlier this morning, further heavy rain is anticipated in eastern Northland. MetService had initially warned of potential surface and flash flooding, creating hazardous driving conditions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as additional rainfall is expected.
