MyChoice app launched to address gambling harm

Two major gaming societies in Waikato have launched the MyChoice app to simplify seeking help for gambling issues, aiming to reduce stigma and paperwork.

This initiative arises as local gaming faces competition from 15 online casinos set to launch in New Zealand by 2026.

While some problem-gambling organizations worry the app might compromise personal data, developers assure that all information is sent to the Salvation Army, a reputable counseling partner.

Grassroots Trust and the Lion Foundation will pilot the app, with plans for wider availability for self-exclusion.
