The 2024 election saw historic victories, including the first openly trans member of Congress, Sarah McBride, and the first Korean American in the Senate, Andy Kim. Additionally, the election brought the first two Black women serving together in the Senate, Lisa Blunt Rochester and Angela Alsobrooks, as well as the first Black mayor of Tulsa, Monroe Nichols. Pamela Goodwine became the first Black woman on the Kentucky Supreme Court, and Shomari Figures became just the fourth Black member sent to Congress from Alabama since Reconstruction.
