Days after a tropical storm caused significant damage in North Island, further severe weather is expected, including thunderstorms and strong winds. A strong wind watch will begin tomorrow for Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato north of Hamilton, and Bay of Plenty north of Tauranga, disrupting the Auckland Anniversary Weekend. Additionally, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for large areas of Canterbury. Residents in these regions should prepare for adverse conditions.
