Ōtāhuhu house fire claims life, grieving widow faces second tragedy

A 68-year-old woman, Subhag Wati Chandra, expressed her distress after a fire at her home in Ōtāhuhu resulted in the death of a guest. Chandra, who was in Fiji at the time, learned that a woman she barely knew, staying at her property, perished in the blaze. Emergency services discovered the victim in a garage that was being used as a sleepout when they responded to the fire on March 4.
