A teenager named Rereamanu Ronaki-Wihapi has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for the murder of Taku Manu Paul, his mother’s partner, after a confrontation over missing Christmas money. At just 17 years old, Ronaki-Wihapi will not be eligible for parole for seven years following the Court of Appeal’s decision allowing his identification.
