Kohurau Contracting fined $70k for safety breach after forestry worker loses fingers

A seasoned forestry worker lost four fingers in an accident that ended his 45-year career, which he had no intention of retiring from. Kohurau Contracting has been ordered to pay $150,000 and to publish an educational article on the dangers of untangling cable snarls following the incident that occurred while the worker was clearing a miswound cable at a site near Waipu.
