Forty nations contributing to the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon strongly condemn recent attacks on peacekeepers, calling for immediate cessation and thorough investigation. The signatories, including Indonesia, Italy, India, Ghana, Nepal, Malaysia, Spain, France, and China, reaffirm support for UNIFIL’s mission of bringing stability and lasting peace to South Lebanon and the Middle East, urging respect for the safety of peacekeeping personnel. Recent incidents, including peacekeepers being wounded and UNIFIL coming under fire in Naqura, have intensified concerns about the challenging conditions faced by the mission.
