Man Missing After Attempting to Cross Mahurangi River

A passenger escaped a vehicle that was swept away by a swollen river north of Auckland, prompting a large-scale search for the missing driver. Emergency services, including white water raft teams and drones, are searching the Mahurangi River after the vehicle was carried off at a river crossing on Falls Rd. The Warkworth chief fire officer reported the incident occurred around 7:51 am. Police confirmed that the passenger raised the alarm after escaping.
