3 Illinois institutions make world university rankings – NBC Chicago

The University of Chicago ranked 14th in the “Times Higher Education’s” World University Rankings for 2025, with Oxford University claiming the top spot. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology rose to second place, while Northwestern University and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign were ranked 31st and 46th respectively.
