Mexico has reached an agreement to increase water deliveries to the US under a 1940s treaty, addressing a dispute that strained trade relations amid severe drought conditions in Mexico. US President Donald Trump hailed the deal as a victory, while Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum coordinated with local governors to ensure compliance without risking domestic water supplies. The agreement is politically sensitive due to ongoing water stress in Mexico, impacting both agricultural resources and international trade dynamics.
