11 Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza during ceasefire

At least 11 Palestinians were killed and several others wounded on Friday as Israeli strikes targeted multiple locations across the Gaza Strip, violating a ceasefire in place since October 2025. The Gaza Interior Ministry reported that seven individuals, including police officers and civilians, died when an Israeli strike hit a police vehicle in Khan Younis. In a separate incident in northern Gaza, a woman and child were killed, and six others injured in an attack on homes near Kamal Adwan Hospital. The ministry condemned the ongoing attacks, highlighting the silence of international organizations regarding the targeting of civilian police personnel. The strikes reportedly occurred outside designated Israeli military deployment zones, further escalating tensions in a region already reeling from a previous war that resulted in over 72,000 Palestinian deaths and more than 172,000 injuries.

Why It Matters

The situation in Gaza is critical due to the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis resulting from years of violence and blockades. Since the onset of the current ceasefire in October 2025, Gaza’s government has documented approximately 2,400 violations by Israel, which include killings and severe restrictions leading to widespread starvation. The cumulative toll of the conflict has been devastating, with Gaza’s Health Ministry reporting nearly 1,000 Palestinian deaths and thousands more injured since the ceasefire began. This backdrop of violence and instability underscores the urgent need for international intervention and a renewed focus on peace negotiations in the region.
