Five Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza during ceasefire

Five Palestinians were killed and one was injured in Israeli military actions across the Gaza Strip on Monday, according to medical sources. The fatalities include three individuals struck by an Israeli drone in Deir al-Balah, where civilians were gathered outside the designated control zones. Additionally, a Palestinian was killed by gunfire in the Muawiya area near Rafah, and another was shot near the Abu Hamid roundabout in Khan Younis, both occurring in areas not under Israeli military deployment as per the ceasefire agreement. The Health Ministry in Gaza reports that since the ceasefire began on October 10, 2025, at least 738 Palestinians have died and over 2,036 have been injured due to ongoing Israeli attacks, which are seen as violations of the ceasefire terms.

Why It Matters

The situation in Gaza is critical, with the region experiencing a significant humanitarian crisis exacerbated by ongoing violence. Since the beginning of hostilities over two years ago, over 72,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 172,000 wounded, alongside the destruction of approximately 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure. The ceasefire established in October 2025 was intended to halt the violence, yet continued military actions indicate a persistent breach of this agreement, raising concerns over human rights violations and the dire state of civilian safety in the region. The cycle of violence impacts not only the immediate safety of the population but also longer-term stability and recovery efforts in Gaza.
