Alireza Arafi appointed to Iran’s interim Leadership Council

Iranian authorities have appointed Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, a member of the Guardian Council, to the interim Leadership Council following the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in recent US-Israeli attacks. The temporary council, which includes President Masoud Pezeshkian and the head of the judiciary, is tasked with maintaining leadership continuity until a permanent leader is chosen by the Assembly of Experts.
