Draft Constitution of the State of Palestine

Nearly seven months after President Mahmoud Abbas formed a constitutional drafting committee, he released the draft “Interim Constitution of the State of Palestine” for public review. The committee will compile feedback over 60 days, aiming to produce a report and recommendations before a final version is prepared for a referendum. This initiative appears to respond to ongoing political pressures and calls for reform amid the complex Palestinian political landscape, echoing past constitutional efforts shaped by prevailing political conditions. Historically, efforts to establish a Palestinian constitution have been influenced by significant political events, suggesting that this latest effort may follow a similar pattern.
