UN Rights Chief: Israeli Control Over Palestinian Lands Violates Self-Determination
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The UN human rights chief, Volker Turk, expressed deep concern over recent Israeli decisions to expand land expropriation in the occupied West Bank, stating that these actions violate Palestinians’ right to self-determination and could accelerate annexation. He emphasized that such measures threaten to dispossess Palestinians, increase illegal settlements, and strip the Palestinian Authority of planning powers in key areas. Turk called for the reversal of these decisions, urging the evacuation of settlements and an end to the occupation. The proposed changes would further integrate the occupied West Bank into Israel, undermining efforts for a viable Palestinian state.
