The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has accused the Israeli army of jeopardizing peacekeepers’ safety following a drone incident during a routine patrol near Kfarkela. UNIFIL reported that one of the drones, which they believe belonged to the Israeli army, dropped a stun grenade near the patrol, posing a direct threat. The incident, deemed a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, prompted UNIFIL to urge Israel to respect the Blue Line and ensure peacekeepers’ safety. The use of an armed drone was labeled “unacceptable” and obstructive to UNIFIL’s mission.
