Syrian President Meets US Envoy in Damascus

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met with US special envoy Tom Barrack in Damascus to discuss regional developments and mutual interests, attended by Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. Barrack highlighted Syria’s resilient social fabric and announced a partnership involving Chevron and Qatar’s Power International Holding to explore oil and gas in Syrian waters, which he described as a transformative step for the country. The Syrian Petroleum Company recently began extracting oil from fields reclaimed from the SDF group. Barrack emphasized that energy sector investment could enhance job opportunities and living conditions in Syria.
