The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has warned that disease risks in the Gaza Strip have reached alarming levels, with children missing essential vaccinations due to over two years of conflict and severe winter conditions. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini highlighted the compounded health risks from poor sanitation, overcrowding, and a collapsed medical system. In response, a catch-up vaccination campaign targeting children under three began in coordination with UNICEF and the WHO. Since October 2023, the Israeli military operations have resulted in over 71,000 deaths and significant injuries among the Palestinian population.
