Davos excludes Iranian diplomat due to protest response

The World Economic Forum (WEF) has canceled the invitation for Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to attend its annual meeting in Davos, scheduled for January 19-23, due to the recent violent crackdown on protests in Iran. The WEF stated that the tragic loss of civilian lives makes it inappropriate for the Iranian government to be represented. Protests erupted over economic turmoil, with significant casualties reported amid clashes between demonstrators and security forces. Authorities claim these protests have been exploited by “rioters” allegedly backed by foreign intelligence.
