Israeli Fire Reported at UNIFIL Positions in Southern Lebanon
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that Israeli tank fire hit one of its positions in southern Lebanon, following a drone dropping a hand grenade near peacekeepers during a patrol. UNIFIL condemned these actions as violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which aims to ensure stability in the region. They noted that no casualties occurred, but emphasized the need for Israel to cease activities that endanger peacekeepers. Established in 1978, UNIFIL monitors ceasefires and supports the Lebanese army in the area.
