The EU has urged Israel to halt the E1 settlement project in the occupied West Bank, citing concerns that its expansion threatens peace and stability in the region. European Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni described the advancement of 3,401 housing units and the construction of “Sovereignty Road” as a serious provocation undermining a two-state solution. The bloc emphasized that Israel’s settlement policy is illegal under international law and called for the protection of the Palestinian population. Additionally, Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos highlighted the necessity of diplomacy in a recent conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.
