Red Crescent reports hepatitis A and gastroenteritis outbreak in Gaza

The Red Crescent Society in Gaza has reported a rising outbreak of hepatitis A and gastroenteritis linked to contaminated drinking water, with about 80% of the water network destroyed. Director Bashar Murad highlighted the presence of viruses in water samples and a surge in influenza cases among children due to overcrowding and pollution. Despite a proactive response plan, efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis remain inadequate. Since October 7, 2023, ongoing violence has resulted in over 242,000 casualties and widespread displacement in Gaza.
