A former senior Egyptian diplomat, Mohamed Hegazy, has dismissed Israeli concerns about the strengthening ties between Egypt and Algeria, characterizing their relationship as historically significant and beneficial for Arab national security. He argued that this rapprochement disturbs adversaries of Arab unity, emphasizing deep cultural and civilizational connections alongside military and economic cooperation. Hegazy criticized Israel’s destabilizing actions in the region and called for ongoing coordination between Egypt and Algeria to safeguard shared Arab interests. He asserted that their collaboration would enhance regional stability and reflect their intertwined histories and values.
