Hamas: Second Phase of Gaza Deal Rejects Guardianship and Disarmament

A senior Hamas official, Osama Hamdan, stated that the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement must include explicit guarantees and commitments, rejecting any form of guardianship, disarmament, or foreign intervention. He accused Israel of violating the ceasefire and international accords, asserting that Israel’s reluctance to advance stems from a need for full withdrawal from Gaza and the presence of resistance forces. Hamdan emphasized that Hamas does not require foreign forces to disarm them, as they have retained their weapons despite Israeli efforts. Additionally, Hamas criticized Israeli Defence Minister Yisrael Katz’s comments about maintaining forces and establishing settlements in Gaza as violations of the ceasefire.
