Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya Named “Hostage of the Year 2025”

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a senior Palestinian physician in Gaza, was openly abducted from his hospital for his documented criticisms of the Israeli siege on healthcare. His detention reflects a broader pattern of targeting healthcare workers, with reports of medical neglect and arbitrary imprisonment. As one of many Palestinian prisoners, his case highlights the selective international response to human rights violations. The Red Ribbons campaign aims to raise awareness and demand his immediate release, emphasizing the humanity of those unjustly detained.
