Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen announced expectations for Israel and Egypt to finalize a $35 billion natural gas export agreement within weeks, citing ongoing negotiations and near resolution of security clarifications requested by Egypt. Cohen emphasized the economic necessity of utilizing Israel’s gas reserves, which can support exports for 30 years, and described the deal as historic for lowering energy prices and enhancing Israel’s geopolitical standing.
