Former Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated that Israel’s recent conflict with Iran stemmed from “miscalculations,” asserting that any further aggression would trigger Iranian self-defense. Speaking at the Doha Forum 2025, he emphasized that Israel underestimated Iran’s resilience, which ultimately led to the war’s end. Zarif noted that while Iran does not seek to escalate hostilities, it is capable of responding if attacked. He urged Israel to refrain from future aggressions for their own benefit, following a 12-day conflict initiated by Israeli airstrikes in June 2025.
