The UN General Assembly renewed the mandate of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) with 151 votes in favor, 10 against, and 14 abstentions. UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini welcomed the decision as a sign of global solidarity with Palestinian refugees and emphasized the need for genuine commitment and resources to fulfill the mandate. The agency, established over 70 years ago, is currently facing financial difficulties exacerbated by allegations from Israel regarding its staff. Despite requests for evidence from Israel, UNRWA has received no response, leading to funding suspensions from key donor nations.
