The Tunisian opposition group, National Salvation Front, reported that police were surrounding the home of its leader, Ahmed Nejib Chebbi, likely to arrest him after he received a 12-year prison sentence. This follows the arrest of prominent lawyer Ayachi Hammami, sentenced to three years for allegedly plotting against state security. His detention came shortly after opposition activist Shaimaa Issa was jailed for 20 years. The Court of Appeal upheld severe sentences against numerous politicians and activists, with some facing up to 45 years in prison.
