Egypt Confirms Release of 3 Kidnapped Citizens in Mali

Egypt announced the successful release of three citizens kidnapped in Mali, following extensive coordination with the Malian government via its embassy in Bamako. The Foreign Ministry urged Egyptians in Mali to adhere to local laws, carry identification, and avoid travel outside the capital. The kidnappers, an al-Qaeda affiliate known as JNIM, had previously demanded a $5 million ransom. Mali has seen a rise in similar kidnappings, targeting various nationalities for ransom to fund militant activities.
