Israel Hands Over 14 Unidentified Palestinian Bodies for Burial in Gaza

Civil defense teams in Deir al-Balah buried 14 more unidentified Palestinian bodies on November 23, as part of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Israel, which has returned at least 330 bodies since October 10. Many of the bodies displayed signs of abuse, and families are struggling to identify their relatives due to inadequate forensic resources in Gaza. Prior to the ceasefire, Israel was reportedly holding 735 bodies in “cemeteries of numbers.” The ongoing conflict has resulted in nearly 70,000 Palestinian deaths, primarily affecting women and children.
