The cathedral of amnesia
The Washington National Cathedral hosted a ceremony to honor Dick Cheney, where political elites praised his service while ignoring the devastating consequences of the Iraq War he helped orchestrate. Cheney, along with George W. Bush and Tony Blair, misled the public about weapons of mass destruction to justify an invasion, leading to over a million Iraqi deaths and widespread destruction. This act is condemned as a supreme international crime, yet the perpetrators enjoy accolades instead of accountability. The financial and human costs of the war, exceeding three trillion dollars, have had long-lasting repercussions, destabilizing the region and fostering terrorism.
