President Donald Trump announced that the US will work to resolve the ongoing conflict in Sudan at the request of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during a Saudi-US investment forum. He acknowledged the significance of the situation, which has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions displaced since fighting began on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. The RSF currently controls the Darfur region, while the army retains control over much of the rest of the country, including Khartoum. The White House previously indicated that the Trump administration is part of an international effort to end the violence in Sudan.
