Knesset passes bill on death penalty for Palestinian prisoners

The Israeli parliament (Knesset) approved a controversial bill allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners, introduced by far-right Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech from the Otzma Yehudit party, with 39 votes in favor and 16 against. A similar bill by opposition member Oded Forer from the Yisrael Beiteinu party also passed, showcasing a rare cooperation across party lines. Following the votes, both bills were sent to the National Security Committee for further deliberation. The voting occurred at the end of the session’s agenda, enabling some members to exit beforehand.
