The Hebron Municipality reported that Israeli authorities are advancing a settlement plan on the site of a former Palestinian market, proposing two six-story settler buildings and additional structures for educational and religious purposes. This plan, deemed a violation of international law by the municipality, comes in the wake of a history of violence following the 1994 Ibrahimi Mosque massacre. Mayor Tayseer Abu Sneineh emphasized the municipality’s ownership of the market, supported by legal victories. Despite international condemnation, Israeli settlements in occupied territories continue to expand, undermining prospects for a two-state solution.
