EU Urges Sudan War to End and Commits to Diplomacy

The European Union has called for an end to the ongoing civil war in Sudan, which has intensified the humanitarian crisis since April 2023. European Commission spokesperson Anouar El Anouni highlighted the recent capture of El-Fasher by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as a significant turning point, exacerbating violence and civilian suffering. The EU plans to utilize diplomatic measures, including sanctions on individuals and entities involved in the conflict, to seek a peaceful resolution. Efforts to protect civilians and denounce violence remain a priority for the bloc as it collaborates with the international community.
