Russia: Gaza prisoner exchange needs Palestinian state to be effective

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stated that while the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners is a positive development, it will not lead to lasting peace without the establishment of a fully recognized Palestinian state per UN resolutions. This follows Hamas’s release of 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, part of a ceasefire plan initiated by Trump amidst ongoing violence in Gaza.
