Mediators are awaiting Israel’s response after Hamas accepted a Gaza ceasefire and prisoner swap proposal, with Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman describing Hamas’ acceptance as “very positive.” The proposal, which includes a 60-day ceasefire and negotiations for hostages, aims to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where Israeli military actions have resulted in over 62,000 Palestinian deaths since October 2023.
