This visit is part of Syria’s new administration’s efforts to rebuild regional partnerships and revive its war-torn economy, following improved Syrian-Qatari relations since the ousting of the Bashar Al-Assad regime in December, when Doha reopened its embassy in Damascus after a 13-year closure. Ahmad Al-Sharaa, a leader of the anti-regime forces, was declared president for a transitional period in January.
