Spain’s Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albares, emphasized the two-state solution as the sole alternative to ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict during an international meeting in Madrid, which included representatives from 20 countries. He described the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as an “open wound” and called for concrete measures to advance peace, including suspending the EU-Israel trade agreement and proposing a UN meeting in June for the recognition of a Palestinian state. Albares noted the urgency of this initiative, stating that “time is running out” for a viable two-state solution.
