Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in Damascus to discuss security, stability, and transitional justice efforts. They emphasized the importance of maintaining security and enhancing cooperation between the Syrian government and the UN, amid calls for accountability for violations committed by the Assad regime during the ongoing conflict. President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s recent decree established a transitional justice body to address past violations and provide reparations, following Assad’s departure to Russia in December.
