Germany has reiterated its opposition to Israel’s plans for permanent occupation of Gaza, asserting that the territory belongs to Palestinians. Foreign Ministry spokesman Christian Wagner emphasized that while Israel has the right to self-defense, a permanent occupation is rejected, aligning with the G-7’s stance. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans for a complete takeover of Gaza, citing external pressure as a reason for resuming humanitarian aid after nearly 80 days of a blockade that has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, resulting in over 53,300 Palestinian deaths since October 2023.
