Red Cross calls for ‘renewed’ ceasefire after facilitating hostage release in Gaza – Middle East Monitor

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

called for a renewed ceasefire in Gaza following the release of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander by Hamas. ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric emphasized the urgent need for political will to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian aid, while highlighting the ongoing plight of remaining hostages and the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The ICRC reiterated that international humanitarian law mandates the unconditional release of all hostages and the unhindered passage of humanitarian relief to civilians.
