Tunisian authorities recovered the bodies of 20 individuals who drowned in a shipwreck off the Mediterranean coast near Sfax, a common departure point for migrants heading to Europe. Coast guard members rescued five people and retrieved the bodies 15 miles off the coast, as the search for missing individuals continues. Despite efforts to prevent sea deaths, hundreds are believed to have perished this year, with more than 1,100 estimated dead or missing in the central Mediterranean.
