2 charged in Blue Island shooting that killed Markham boy

Two individuals, including a 23-year-old and a 17-year-old from Blue Island, have been charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old Markham boy on August 24, 2024. Rayshaun Pettit was ordered held after admitting to firing at the victim in a premeditated robbery that resulted in the victim being ambushed and shot in the head. Prosecutors stated that Pettit poses a threat to public safety and must remain in jail pending trial due to the violent nature of the offense.
