193 Cybercriminals Arrested for Planning Violence Services

Europol’s GRIMM taskforce has apprehended nearly 200 individuals involved in “violence-as-a-service” schemes, recruiting youth for real-world violent crimes, including torture and murder. Launched in April, the operation involved multiple European countries and led to the arrests of 63 direct perpetrators, 40 facilitators, 84 recruiters, and six key instigators. Many suspects are linked to The Com, a gang that operates across various cybercrime networks, which has raised concerns from the FBI regarding threats to youth. The FBI specifically highlighted the dangers of subgroups offering swat-for-hire services, which create false emergencies to provoke police responses.
